In Taiye’s “Don’t ask me where I’m from, ask me where I’m local” she describes a multinational idea. Explains that multinationalism describes objects and things not humans. She shares the concept that United States has no relationship with her, rather the location she grew up in and resonates with is where she answers the question “where are you from”. She also describes the importance of experience rather than categorizing people. Humans categorize innately to simplify understanding something. Once people cannot put something or someone in a category they are familiar with, they become uneasy. Human to human interaction isn’t something that should be simplified. Therefore, we should seek to understand and compromise with one another.
